GoHighLevel Facebook Lead Ads Integration. Facebook Lead Ads are one of the highest-volume lead sources for service businesses running paid social. Prospects see an ad, tap a pre-filled form, and submit in seconds — without leaving Facebook. The conversion rate on well-targeted Facebook Lead Ad forms consistently outperforms landing page campaigns because the friction is lower.
The problem isn’t the form. The problem is what happens after submission.
Without a direct GoHighLevel integration, Facebook Lead Ad submissions are sent to Facebook’s Lead Centre. Someone on your team has to log in to Meta Business Suite, export the leads, import them into your CRM, and start follow-up — all of which takes anywhere from a few hours to a few days. Research from Harvard Business Review established that the likelihood of qualifying a lead drops by 10× in the first hour after enquiry. By the time someone manually processes a Facebook lead, the window for effective follow-up has often closed.
With the GoHighLevel integration correctly configured, a Facebook Lead Ad submission creates a contact in GHL within 60 seconds and immediately fires the speed-to-lead workflow. The prospect receives an automated call, SMS, or email while they’re still thinking about what they enquired about. That’s the difference the integration makes.
Step 1: Connect Your Facebook Account
In GoHighLevel: Settings → Integrations → Facebook
Click Connect, and you’ll be redirected to Facebook’s permission flow. Grant GoHighLevel access to your Facebook Pages and Lead Ads. Once connected, return to GoHighLevel — you’ll see your connected Facebook Pages listed.

Important: You must be an admin of the Facebook Page to connect it. If you manage client accounts, you need admin access to the client’s page — contributor or editor roles don’t grant the permissions GoHighLevel needs. This is the most common blocker when setting up the integration for clients.
Step 2: Map Your Lead Ad Form Fields
This is where most integrations are set up incorrectly, and it’s where leads arrive in GHL with missing data.
In GoHighLevel: Settings → Integrations → Facebook → the connected page → Lead Ad Forms
You’ll see a list of active lead ad forms associated with the page. For each form, map Facebook’s form fields to GoHighLevel’s contact fields.
Standard field mappings:
| Facebook Field | GoHighLevel Field |
| First Name | First Name |
| Last Name | Last Name |
| Phone Number | Phone |
Custom question mappings:
If your lead ad form includes custom questions — “What service are you interested in?”, “What’s your approximate budget?”, “What’s your timeline?” — this needs to be mapped to a GoHighLevel custom field. Create the custom fields first in GoHighLevel (Sub-Account Settings → Custom Fields → Contact), then return to the field mapping screen and assign each Facebook custom question to the corresponding GHL custom field.

Why this matters: Unmapped fields don’t disappear — they simply don’t create data in GoHighLevel. If your workflow uses the “Service Interested In” field to route leads to different pipelines, and that field isn’t mapped, every lead ends up unrouted. The contact is created, but without the context, your workflow cannot act correctly.
Step 3: Set the Lead Source Tag
In the form integration settings, GoHighLevel allows you to specify a lead source tag that gets applied to every contact created from that specific form. Set this to something specific: “Facebook Lead Ads — [Campaign Name]” or at minimum “Facebook Lead Ads.”
This tag serves two purposes: it populates the lead source field in your contact record (which you need for attribution reporting), and it can be used as a workflow trigger condition to route Facebook leads through a Facebook-specific nurture sequence if your follow-up strategy differs by channel.
Step 4: Build the Lead Response Workflow
Now that Facebook leads flow into GoHighLevel automatically, the workflow determines what happens within the first sixty seconds.
Trigger: Contact Created → Filter: Lead Source Tag contains “Facebook Lead Ads”
Immediate actions (fire within 60 seconds of form submission):
- SMS: A personalised message referencing what they enquired about. “Hi [First Name], thanks for your interest in [service]. I’m looking at availability now — is a quick call in the next few minutes convenient?” Keep it conversational. Don’t sound automated.
- Internal notification: A task or notification to your team that a new Facebook lead has arrived, with the contact’s details. This is a safety net — if the automated follow-up doesn’t reach the prospect, your team knows to call manually.
- Pipeline assignment: Automatically move the contact to your lead pipeline at the “New Enquiry” stage.
If no response within 2 hours:
- Follow-up SMS or email with a slightly different angle
- Book a call CTA with your GoHighLevel calendar link
If no response within 24 hours:
- Third touchpoint — value-led, not chase-led. A useful piece of content, a relevant case study, a clear next step.
The first three touchpoints should happen within 24 hours. Most Facebook leads who convert do so within the first 48 hours of enquiry. After 5–7 days without response, move to a longer-term nurture sequence and remove from active follow-up.
Step 5: Test Before Running Live Campaigns
Never run Facebook Lead Ads campaigns without first testing the GoHighLevel integration. A broken integration during a live campaign means days of leads arriving in Facebook’s Lead Centre without follow-up while you chase down the problem.
Testing tool: Meta Business Suite → All Tools → Instant Forms → the form → Test
Facebook provides a testing tool that simulates a lead submission without spending ad budget. Submit a test lead, then immediately check GoHighLevel for the contact. Confirm:
- Contact appears within 60 seconds
- All mapped fields are populated correctly
- The lead source tag is applied
- The workflow fires (check the workflow’s execution log)
- SMS and email send correctly (use your own phone number and email as the test lead)
Run this test after every campaign change that touches the lead form — field additions, question changes, new form versions.
Why Facebook Leads Appear in GHL, but Fields Are Empty
The most common post-integration complaint: “Leads are coming in, but the phone number is blank.”
Cause: Facebook’s form field naming is inconsistent. A field that appears in Facebook as “Mobile Number” may be named differently in the form’s underlying field structure than what GoHighLevel expects to map to “Phone.” The field mapping screen shows you Facebook’s internal field names — these don’t always match the display labels visible to the prospect.
Fix: Go back to the field mapping screen for that form. If the phone field isn’t mapped, it’s because the field name didn’t automatically match. Manually assign it. Then re-test with a new test submission.
Second common cause: Facebook updated the form, and the integration wasn’t re-tested. When you add a new question to a Facebook Lead Ad form, you need to return to GoHighLevel’s field mapping screen for that form and map the new field. GoHighLevel doesn’t automatically map newly added fields.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I connect Facebook Lead Ads to GoHighLevel? Go to GoHighLevel Settings → Integrations → Facebook. Click Connect and complete Facebook’s permission authorisation. Once connected, your Facebook Pages appear. For each page, go to Lead Ad Forms and map each form’s fields to GoHighLevel contact fields. Test using Facebook’s Lead Ad testing tool before running live campaigns.
How do I map Facebook Lead Ad fields to GoHighLevel? In GoHighLevel, go to Settings → Integrations → Facebook → your connected page → Lead Ad Forms. For each active form, a field mapping interface shows Facebook’s form fields on the left and GoHighLevel contact fields on the right. Manually assign each Facebook field to the corresponding GHL field. Custom questions must be mapped to pre-created GHL custom fields.
How do I test my Facebook Lead Ads integration in GoHighLevel? In Meta Business Suite, go to All Tools → Instant Forms → your form → Test. Submit a test lead. Within 60 seconds, the contact should appear in GoHighLevel with all mapped fields populated and the assigned lead source tag applied. Check the workflow execution log to confirm the lead response workflow fired correctly.
What happens when a Facebook Lead Ad form is submitted? GoHighLevel receives the submission via its native Facebook integration and creates a contact record (or updates an existing one) within 60 seconds. Any tags assigned in the integration settings are applied. Workflow triggers listen for that tag or lead source, then fire, starting the automated follow-up sequence.
Why aren’t my Facebook leads appearing in GoHighLevel? Common causes: the Facebook page isn’t connected (check Settings → Integrations → Facebook), the specific form isn’t mapped (check the Lead Ad Forms section for that page), or the GoHighLevel connection has lost authorisation (reconnect the Facebook integration). Also check that you’re looking at the correct sub-account — Facebook integrations are sub-account-level, not agency-level.
Can GoHighLevel respond to Facebook Lead Ads instantly? Yes. When the integration is correctly configured, GoHighLevel creates the contact within 60 seconds of a Facebook Lead Ad form submission and fires any workflow triggered by that contact creation. An immediate SMS, email, or internal task notification can reach the prospect within 90 seconds of their form submission.
